Now in its 22nd year the FLG Annual Emerging Artist Exhibition provides a platform for emerging artists to successfully exhibit their art within a commercial gallery context.
The winner of the FLG Emerging Artist Award for 2022 is KIRTHANA SELVARAJ. Kirthana will hold a solo exhibition with the gallery in 2023.
The FLG EMERGING ART AWARD this year was judged by Claire Harris FLG Director, Melinda Martin Director Linden New Art and Sarah Weston Craft Victoria.

EVA BELTRAN Aiming to depict an emotional experience more than any physical reality, Sydney-based abstract artist Eva Beltran's work explores nature, emotions, and memories through abstract figurations. BRAD GUNN Brad Gunn is a Melbourne sculptor working in a range of contemporary materials and techniques. His works are often figurative and explore psychology and identity through surreal and fantastical characters. Gunn's work is very process driven, involving sculpting, moulding, and casting, with each piece hand painted or coated in a velvet flock. View Brad's CV and Statement
MELODY JONES Melody Jones is a contemporary artist from Lake Macquarie, NSW. Specializing in large scale figurative drawings, her work is concerned with challenging stereotypical, traditional, passive, and voyeuristic representation of women. Combining life drawing, photography and photo editing, Jones challenges and expands her understanding of art making to reveal new forms of expression. View Melody's CV and Statement
ALICIA KING Alicia King is an interdisciplinary artist working between Naarm (Melbourne) and Nipaluna (Hobart). Her work is driven by a fascination with natural phenomena and the re-thinking and re-working of our material reality. Within this broad context, King explores the intersections of nature, technology and the sublime, as well as ideas of deep ecological time and cultural mythologies of the future. FRANK MESARIC Full of a sense of introspection and pervasive melancholy, Gippsland artist Frank Mesaric's small scale, black and white paintings focus on subjects of solitude and the landscape. Presented within heavy, antique frames his images suggest moments captured in time, and evoke memories of precious photographs his parents brought with them when they migrated from Slovenia after the Second World War. JOANA PARTYKA Joana Partyka is a ceramic artist and political staffer based in Boorloo / Perth. Her work is deeply informed by the Australian political context and aims to push the boundaries of the ceramic medium - to arouse, to enrage and to energise - to invite people to think about and see things in new and different ways. JANE REYNOLDS Jane Reynolds is a Sydney-based still life painter whose practice investigates the formal relationships between colour, form and light. Influenced by architecture and hard-edge abstraction, Reynolds' compositions strike a balance between restrained order and playful assembly, focusing on the optical play between flat planes and sculptural illusion, and invites the viewer to pause on the aesthetic value of form and colour. KIRTHANA SELVARAJ Kirthana Selvaraj is a Queer, South Asian artist working on the unceded Gadigal Land of the Eora Nation (Sydney). Drawing on both individual and collective experiences within a Neo-Colonial feminist discourse, her practice is centered on race, intersections of the seen and unseen, violence and passivity, and gender and sexuality. CAROLINE YUEN Caroline Yuen's background in architecture informs her fascination with negative and positive spaces produced by structures and objects. Her sculptures are studies of form, spatial tension, and volumetric space through the repetitive use of simple elements.
