Congratulations to Annika, whose works, 'Tuross Falls', 'Spiral', 'Slippage' and 'Chasm II' were included in the 10th International Printmaking Biennial Douro in Portugal. This festival is one of the most significant of its kind, exhibiting the work of some of the worlds most distinguished printmakers. Well done Annika.
Michael Simms has been selected as a semi-finalist in this years (Richard) Lester Prize for portraiture, for his painting of Genevieve Lemon (see above). The finalists' artworks will be on display in the Centenary Galleries at AGWA (Art Gallery of Western Australia) from the 31st of October to the 29th of November. With a top prize of $50, 000, we wish Michael all the best.
Having won the prize in it's inaugural year in 2018, Michael Simms was selected again in this years SBS (Southern Buoy Studio) Portrait Prize. Michael's exquisite portrait of 'Genevieve Lemon', oil on canvas, 60cm x 60cm (seen above) captured "... her warm, authentic and inquisitive nature" (Michael Simms, 2020). Congratulations Michael!
Congratulations to Michael Simms, who has been selected as a finalist in this year's Sunshine Coast Art Prize. The prize is a national contemporary acquisitive award presented by the Caloundra Regional Gallery. The exhibition will run from the 16th of October to the 6th of December. Michael's work, 'Strong Men', oil on canvas, 51cm x 51cm, is in the running to win the prize and we wish him all the best when the winner is selected on the 19th of November.
