PROJECT: Children’s Memorial Garden
ARTIST: Dónal Molloy-Drum
ARTWORK TITLE: Soul Journey
LOCATION: Horsham Cemetery, Davis Drive, Horsham, Vic
CLIENT: Commission funded by Regional Arts Victoria through Horsham Rotary
The two circular shapes of this sculpture are raised to be silhouetted against the sky. The imagery of the birds and boats reflect upon a spiritual or soul journey.
Sculptor Dónal Molloy-Drum was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. After migrating to Australia in 1997, he now lives and works in the Wimmera region of Western Victoria. Donal studied Fine Art at the Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork in the late 1980s, majoring in sculpture. Favouring building materials such as wood, plaster, concrete and stainless steel to construct his polished, abstract sculptures, Donal continues to push these materials as he engages with the organic forms found within the Australian landscape. Molloy-Drum is a regular exhibitor, with work in public and private collections worldwide, including Microsoft Dublin, South Dublin County Council, the Australian Air Force Canberra and Horsham Rural City Council.
