“Catching small glimpses of the sky between cliffs and trees I am constantly looking up, reminding me that my view is more of a skyline rather than a horizon line. This is my point of view. I must look down, notice what is beneath my feet.
‘Portrait of a Rock II’ has a skyline of Yosemite National Park receding in the background while the foreground is heavy with a rock. This rock is in fact a tiny stone picked up on one of my walks. I marvelled at the detail and its resemblance to the cliffs above.” This painting was a finalist in the Muswellbrook Art Prize 2024.
