• Leah Thiessen announced as a finalist in the Glover Prize 2020

    We are delighted to announce that FLG Artist Leah Thiessen has just been announced as a finalist in the Glover Prize for 2020! The Glover prize is awarded annually by The John Glover Society Inc. for the work judged the best contemporary landscape painting of Tasmania with the aim to stimulate conversations about the meaning and possibilities expressed in the words landscape, painting and Tasmania.

    Thiessen's work can be viewed in the finalists' exhibition held over the March long-weekend in the historic Falls Park pavilion in Evandale, a village on the beautiful northern plains of Tasmania.

  • KATHRIN LONGHURST FINALIST DARLING PORTRAIT PRIZE

    Kathrin Longhurst has been announced as a Finalist in the inaugural $75,000 National Portrait Gallery’s Darling Portrait Prize 2020. The Prize will recognise the significance and relevance of portraiture in Australia and will be an ongoing legacy of Mr L Gordon Darling AC CMG (1921-2015). 2018 marks twenty years since the Portrait Gallery was established, an achievement that would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication of our Founding Patrons Mr L Gordon Darling AC CMG and Mrs Marilyn Darling AC.’ - Chairman of the National Portrait Gallery, Dr Helen Nugent AO

  • Gina Kalabishis to embark on 2 week Umbi Gumbi Artist in Residence program

    Gina Kalabishis has been selected to partake in a 2 week Artist-in-Residence program on the far South Coast of NSW, Australia. Umbi Gumbi has inspired many of Australia’s writers and artists. John Blay, a founder of the cooperative, wrote his first novel, Part of the Scenery while camped out at the Umbi Gumbi dam. Salman Rushdie visited during the time he was in hiding from writing The Satanic Verses. Richard Neville, Martin Sharp and Brett Whiteley - writers, artists and social commentators - all stayed at Umbi Gumbi.

  • Gina Kalabishis awarded 3 week NG Art Creative Residency

    Gina Kalabishis has been awarded a 3 week NG Art Creative Residency in Eygalières, Provence, Southern France at a 15th century Provencal homestead, Mas des Pelerins; House of Pilgrims. NG Art Creative Residency is an international multi-disciplinary creative residency that offers a place of respite, nourishment and enlightenment for artists, writers, poets, musicians, performers, filmmakers, photographers, academic scholars, and other creatives who seek to enrich their process.
