About In the garden of my mind…desires #1-10 2006

In the garden of my mind…desires #1-#10 is a suite of ten images of which five are available (Also available are desire #4 & #7). Each image begins with the photogram of a found lace doily that appears in a different position in each work as though it has moved about like a restless thought. The surface decoration of the doily is evocative of designs for patterned gardens with paths, fountains and abundant blooms. The photogram is viewed through patterned, sand blasted, glass. The subject matter on the glass touches delicately on subtle yearnings characterised by - architectural fragments, patterns left by a kitchen utensils, and fragments of a poem.

The doily appears suspended in space between the certainty of the patterned glass and the shadows cast by the pattern; a little like the effect of a hologram.
