Melbourne artist Lilly Chorny's mutual concern for landscape and patterning coalesce
in this new series of paintings. Informed by her ongoing interest in oriental
design and driven by her unique sense of colour, Chorny depicts an intuitive response
to the natural world, to examine both the physicality of the botanical forms that
comprise it and the atmosphere surrounding it, as pollen and other air born fragments
are sent adrift.
Shifting
between palettes of subdued creams and passionate reds, these works evoke not
only the delicacy of natural forms but also remind us of the sensual and transformative
power of our relationship with the environment.
Chorny has been exhibiting
since 1997, having shown successfully in Australia and the United Kingdom. Her
work is in the collection of Artbank and the Abbey National Bank and well as private
and corporate collections in the United Kingdom, Washington DC, Canada, Hong Kong
and Australia. |
