Margaret has been working with Mimi Arts since early 2006. The coordinator recognised a special talent that Margaret has and she was subsequently a successful entrant in the 2006 Telstra/NATSIAA award and was inspired by that.
Margarets work is different to the general art that has been seen at Mimi. She is using a distinctive naïf figurative style to tell the stories of her country. The style is both colourful and quirky and is full of humour in the telling of stories that have been passed down to her, mainly by her mother, an important elder who has passed away. Margaret loves to paint and wishes to make a career of art. |
